Midlothian Castle
The Home of Harvest is Midlothian Castle, Burk’s Falls, Ontario, Canada, which is 240 km north of Toronto and 375 km west of Ottawa.
Midlothian Castle is the creation of Peter Camani, an artist/sculptor who created an unusual residence in the form of a castle complete with sculpture gardens on 300 acres, most commonly known as “Screaming Heads.”
With his paintings hanging in coveted places such as the Vatican and Buckingham Palace, Camani focused his energy some 25 years ago till the present on realizing a vision of significantly larger proportions and permanence.
Today, over one hundred “screaming head” sculptures, each approximately 20 feet tall and weighing as much as 30 tons, are ideally placed through the property along with the castle. The heads and castle were featured in TV programmes such as the CBC series “On The Road Again, Arthur Black’s Weird Homes, Driven By Vision, Shrines and Other Holly Places, World Of Extreme Homes, and MTV’s Cribs.
Peter Camani’s Midlothian Castle and “Screaming Heads” sculpture gardens are truly magical and creative places that are continually changing and evolving.
It’s a perfect fit for our beloved Harvest, and everyone is welcome to explore throughout the year and contribute to Peter’s magical lands.
The Screaming Heads Merchandise Stand is in the parking lot near the castle sells. It sells T-shirts and hats featuring Peter Camani’s iconic art and is managed by Cameo Oakes, a neighbour and friend. The only place to buy Peter’s merchandise is in person at this spot.
The market Midlothian Valley Farm offers farm fresh organic fruits, vegetables and goods such as honey next to the screaming heads merchandise stand. A neighbouring family tends to Peter’s vegetable lots. Be sure to look for this hidden gem upon arriving or before departure.
